What defines a great ninja for you?

Asides from power levels; what makes a ninja great for you? Many people like their favorite characters because of their power levels, but what makes them appealing other than that? For example, when Hashirama said that Itachi is a better shinobi than him, many people went "it iz confirmd, Itachi iz da strongest he pawnz Hashirama" over those words but Hashirama obviously did not know Itachi's power levels, so he was talking about his morals and sacrifices, so power is not the only thing makes someone being a good ninja.

Things defines a great ninja are their ethics, reasonings for their actions and efforts in my opinion.Rock Lee is a great ninja for me, because managed to get stronger than most of his peers despite the odds, willing to die for his dream and he cares for his friends deeply, as we have seen in many situations. Neji, Gaara,Tsunade, Naruto, Kakashi, Guy, Hashirama, Minato, Itachi, Hiruzen, J-man, Kisame and many others are great for different reasons.

Anyway, i am just asking you guys what is in the title. Please respect other people's opinions and don't right stuff like these:
Tenten because she ownz so6p (omg lulz11!1)
Itachi is great because he one shots with tsukiyomi
Sasuke because he is
Ramen guy is awesome because no one knows he is a ninja
Things make Tsunade great are her bewbz.

Hinata: never backs down, always trying to help, willing to fight anyone or sacrifice herself against overwhelming odds.

Kisame- went to the extreme for his allies....a cruel death to protect his team.

Itachi- put the greater good above everything...including what he loved most.

Kakuzu- cool under fire. He was analytical, and didn't underestimate opponents. He also was never overly cocky...a trait he shared with Itachi.

I figured these four would be enough for now!

Technically, I guess being a ninja/shinobi, you do your missions without hesitating, like Kisame and Itachi to mention a few. But I like the ones that fights for what's right, protect their loved ones and stand firm in their beliefs. Guys like Naruto, Lee, Jiraiya and so on. Now, what is right changes from person to person, so guys like Nagato and Madara can be viewed in that light as well.

Mdara and Nagato are fine ninjas too imo, afterall everyone's point of view differrs about what is right or wrong and they fought/are fighting for their own aims.

The ability to endure and make the sacrifices. A perfect example is Itachi, he sacrificed everything all for the sake of his villiage and endured great pain and disgrace.

Another example is Minato, and hopefully Naruto is walking the same path.
